He was studied in Brajamohan School and did his Matriculation in 1915 and did his Inter of Arts from Brajamohan College in 1917. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature in 1919. in this year, his first poem appeared in print in the Boishakh issue of Brahmobadi journal. Fittingly, the poem was called Borso-abahon (Arrival of the New Year). He completed his Master of Arts in 1921 in English from University of Calcutta, India.
Jibnananda Das began his career as Professor of English in Calcutta City College in 1922. By this time, he had left Hardinge and was boarding at Harrison road. He gave up his law studies. It is thought that he also lived in a house in Bechu Chartterjee Street for some time with his brother Ashokanananda, who had come there from Barisal for his M.Sc studies.
